edTactics hopes you’ve had a relaxing and recuperative summer break with a well-deserved vacation!

With the new school year right around the corner, we thought you might appreciate some tips on planning for Continuous Improvement by reflecting on last year and looking forward to 2018-19.

Reviewing your successes and failures doesn’t have to be overwhelming – just follow these quick steps to getting yourself on the right foot for next year:

What do you want to learn?Step #1: Create a Year-in-Review

Grab a sheet of paper, a pen, and spend a few minutes brainstorming the different big events from the past school year – both successes and failures – and write them down . After you’ve made your list, go back through and make a few notes for each one on what worked and what you would do differently.

Take a few minutes to reflect on your practices to help determine why the events were successful or failures.

When should you run your bond measure?Step #2: Make a Calendar

Quickly create a calendar for the next school year – write down each month (August of this year through June of the next year) with some space under each month.

Take your Year-in-Review (from Step #1) and transcribe each event that will repeat in next year under the corresponding month so you will know the work coming down the pike with a quick glance at your calendar.

Schools must communicate with their shareholders#3: Save your work to review later.

Whether you’re using a computer or a sheet of paper, make sure you save the document somewhere you’ll remember it.

There! You’ve recapped last year and you’re on your way to creating a plan for the next year. You don’t need to do anything else right now besides keeping your plan safe and remembering where you put it.

You can use these two documents as a guide for the work you need to do in the upcoming year.
